HOW THE LATE GEORGE FLOYD’S DEATH IS MAKING A CHANGE IN THE WORLD.

George Floyd was born on October 14,1973, was an African-American man who was killed by a police officer during an arrest in Minneapolis on May 25,2022. Protest’s in response to both Floyd’s death, and more broadly to police violence against black people, quickly spread across United States and worldwide. Floyd grew up in Houston, Texas. He played football and basket throughout high school and college. A blue- collar worker, Floyd was also an early contributor to the development of Houston’s hip-hop scene and a mentor who was active in his religious community. Later he was arrested for drug possession and other offences; in 2009, he made a plea deal for armed robbery, serving four years in prison. In 2014, he moved to the Minneapolis, Minnesota area, finding work both as a truck driver and a bouncer. In 2020, he lost his security job because of the covid-19 pandemic. He died after being arrested for allegedly using counterfeit money to buy cigarettes; Derek Chauvin, a white police officer, knelt on his neck for eight minutes, leading to his death. Events of the arrest, death, and the actions of the officers have led to international Black Lives Matter protests, calls for police reform, and legislation to address racial inequalities. Racial inequalities are almost the same as racism because it involves division of superiority based on one’s race over another. This has been there for some good years in the world, but it has come to an international scene due to George Floyd’s incident which happened some few weeks ago. We are all created as human beings with one accord in the way of living though with different colors, capabilities, mode of communication amongst others. The white man though has gone further to do a lot of things compared to most of what the Black man can afford to do due to different level of capabilities which is good because it has encouraged development in the world, though he has still gone further to encourage racism by not employing black man in most of the things they do because he thinks he is superior from all the others. A lot has happened for over the past years about racial segregation but there is a saying that says whatever is hidden in the past shall one day be put to light, you are all victims to what’s happening in the world but all in all if it wasn’t George’s incident you never know things wouldn’t have gone bad as it is now. The sad thing is that the police officers who were involved in this scenario at first were just fired from work, later arrested to be charged for murder but the most disappointing thing is one of them was bailed from the custody to go back and hung out in the community which is not fair at all. If he managed to kill Floyd when the world is seeing, he can be a great threat to the community because it is very easy for him to take a life away. This incident has caused shock in the world especially in the United States where everyone has come out to fight for the freedom of the black man with an anthem which says Black life Matters. This has caused attention to people across the world about the Black man’s life. As we all taking part in the fight to ensure equal rights in the world despite the color, the first thing is to look at ourselves and see how we treat others before making judgements because we are mostly driven off by plenty of things which make us go astray. The other thing is to be sure of who we want to lead us in the political department, most of the leaders out there seem nice when they are campaigning yet they have different intentions to accomplish when they happen to make it in their respective positions being nominated at, so everyone has aright to choose who he/she wants to lead them due to the different outstanding reasons. Do not be lead by the influence of a friend, but just be who you are and vote the right person because your vote can change a million lives in this world. This also involves standing up together with one voice to bring up the change in the world, as it is said United we stand, dived we fall. Everything happens for a reason, but the late Floyds death is surely making a great impact on the Black man’s life in the world because everyone has come out to show his/her love for the black man.
